Day 2

It's been 24 hours since I washed with the "no poo" method and so far so good! My hair is soft and happy! The only parts of it that are feeling greasy are the parts I put the jojoba oil on. Which is fine with me!

Here it is today.

More updates later!

"No Poo"

So I, Hannah Hope Stephens, have decided to take the "no poo" challenge.
What is that you say?
You are no longer going to poop?
No sillies!
No Shampoo!

Again you say WHAT?! You aren't going to wash your hair?!
Once again, no. Stop being ridiculous.

After reading many articles, and blogs, and pinteresting all over the place, I've decided to make the switch and ditch my shampoo and conditioner.

The idea is, using Baking Soda and Vinegar to wash your hair instead of using expensive products full of nasty chemicals that are doing nothing good for you. Shampoo is like a detergent that strips your hair yes of all the gross nasty but also of all the good happy oils that you want to have in your hair. So by using baking soda you only have to wash your hair maybe once or twice a week and your hair will start to go back to normal and produce its own oils and good stuff and yay happy hair!
Basically here is the blog that i like the best that explains it the best way http://livinginanotherlanguage.com/blog/tag/no-poo/

Anyway today is day one,
I just washed it about an hour ago, and although it was a snarly mess that is nothing new. I rubbed a little jojoba oil in there and i was good to go. So far the hair that is dry on the top of my head is super soft and happy, and according to Caleb it smells just like hair! haha

I shall continue to update as the process continues!

I'm going to make home made deodorant next! More DIY to come!!!

Hannah Tries To Cook. Vol 1.

I've been craving cookies all week, but it is usually at around 11 o'clock at night and i'm not going to start making a big batch of cookies, or drive to whatever random store is open and buy some. And lets face it, its not like I need cookies. I just want them....BADLY.

So I scrolled through Pinterest and found an easy quick recipe to satisfy my desire. This is what I found....

Looks easy right?! Well it was!!
2 ripeish bananas
1 cup quick oats
Bake @ 350 for 15 min!

I added cinnamon, vanilla and chocolate chips for a little something extra.
They were not your typical cookie. More like a muffiny bananabreadish consistency. But it got the job done!

Last night during meeting, I was starving, as per usual. Therefore when I got home I made the following dip.
However, I used way more garlic than it calls for, which I loved, but some might not like that garlicy bite as much as I do. I also would use more kale next time I try it, but here's to trying new things!

Kale Ricotta Dip

Recipe Notes
If you don't have a food processor, a blender works fine. Just make sure you slice the kale leaves into smaller pieces and take care to remove tough ribs for easier blending.
Healthy Creamy Kale Dip Recipe
INGREDIENTS
1 bunch green kale, stems and tough ribs stripped out and discarded, leaves sliced
1 small onion, sliced
4 cloves garlic
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup low-fat ricotta cheese
1 1/2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
Juice of 1 lemon
Lemon zest to taste
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste
DIRECTIONS
  1. In a large saucepan, combine kale, onion, garlic and 1/4 cup water. Set over medium heat, cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are very tender, about 12 minutes; add more water a tablespoon at a time if the pan dries out.
  2. Transfer vegetables and any liquid in the pan to a food processor or blender and let cool a few minutes. Add ricotta, parmesan, lemon juice and zest, salt and pepper flakes. Process until smooth.
  3. Transfer to a bowl and serve.

I also made a sun-dried tomato bail pesto quiona with tomatos and green onions for lunch, If that actually tastes good when I have it ill tell you what I did :)

Hey remember that time?

Hey Remember that time that while we were driving and I saw the ride "the zipper" off in the distance? I insisted on going to where it was and going on it. It was so much fun. And as we left I was 99% sure it was some church fair, but I didn't care. It was my favorite ride ever.

Remember?

Because I have no idea who I was with.
Which makes me think it was with people who I'm not friends with anymore.

Which makes this memory sad now.

Disco baby

So as most of you know by now, I got myself a personal trainer!
It is kinda awesome.
I finally REALLY had enough this time. I was sick of not fitting into all the clothes I love. Sick of having to plan outfits all day long for when i'm out with my friends just in case someone takes a picture of me so I dont look terrible.
So on and so forth.
Everyone in my family is either extremely obese or dies of a heart attack, and personally im not all about that,  so im doing something about it!
So I got a trainer, her name is Heather Disco, and she rocks.
We're gonna do all kinds of races this year. In June we are doing the Warrior Dash, which I am pumped about. September will be the Rugged Maniac, and most likely Color Me Rad as well.
I'm excited to do these and actually be fit when i do, and not winded and dying every step of the way.

ANYWAY this year is going to be better! Here is to a new Hannah. The true ULTIMATE Ginge :)

OH and btw, Mikie...I will start on that cookbook for ya ;)
